INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1

Print the Medusa Nebula pattern onto the paper of your choice.  Both sides of the paper will be visible in this project. 

Read the pattern key included in the General Instructions.

Step 2

Cut out the twenty parts by cutting on all black lines.

STEP 3

Connect two parts by gluing the shaded patches together so that they overlap (see Photo 3).

Step 4

Connect three more parts in the same way, and then connect the fifth part to the first part to form a ring.

Step 5

In the same way, add a new part to each of the five open arms of the project after Step 4.

Step 6

Add five more parts.  Connect each new part to two arms of the project (after Step 5), again by gluing shaded arm patches so that they overlap.

Step 7

Add the five remaining parts.  Connect each to one of the available arms on the project (after Step 6).   Finish by attaching each of these new parts to each of its neighbors, again by gluing arm patches to overlap.

Gaze again into the Medusa Nebula. Do you see the icosahedron?
